I absolutely loved this article from Snagglebox. It's titled "17 Things The Princess Bride Taught Me About Autism Parenting". We are huge Princess Bride fans here at our house and we find that there is very little in life that can't be enriched by a good quote from the movie! :)
All of the 17 things were great but my favorite was the first one. It says,
"Affection doesn't have to mean saying 'I love you'. Reading a story to someone who's sick in bed, saying 'as you wish' or playing rhyming games to annoy your boss . . . there are so many more ways to show love than just those three little words."Living with Sunshine has shown us that there are so, so many more ways to show love than just saying the words. Sunshine has never said "I love you" without being prompted and I don't know if she ever will. But, I have no doubt that she loves me. She shows us in so many amazing, quirky little ways each and every day! The words would be nice but they're not required. We know exactly what she's trying to say.
I love this!
